Hi I'm new to the forum not sure where to put this.

My wife and I have been involved with a national charity to cut a very long story short, my wife organises a spring ball to raise money for local people, we are trying to open a centre to help people with neuro health problems locally, a national charity was going to put funding into it, we donated the money from the ball to this charity. The charity has been dragging its heels for some time and we are in danger of loosing the building we have negotiated a lease on, we have asked them for our donation back as we need the money to open the centre.
Their legal department has written to us and said that we have to get a letter from every person that attended the ball, bought a raffle ticket, bought an item from the charity auction to say that their donation, monies paid on the night was to go to the opening of the neuro centre and not the national charity.
We have other local people who made donations to this charity who also want their money back to give to the opening of this centre.
As a note I wish we had never got involved with this national charity.

Any help or advice would be very much appreciated we need to get the funds to open this much needed centre in our area.

Hi, the charity will probably not pay monies out on someones word unfortunately, if you could possibly collect letters from donors indicating their wishes, then I am sure the charity will refund the monies, they are just following procedure, I know it is a pain. You could push the charity into giving you a time frame, so you can let the leasing people know, and try to work something out between yourselves

Hi,

I think surfar99 is right, but I just wonder if you had any form of correspondence with them about the purpose of this donation and proposed local centre.
