I am looking for some tips in choosing the conveyancing solicitors. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) Do you tend to go for the cheapest conveyancing quote or the most expensive one? Does it matter whether your conveyancing solicitor is located where the property you are buying is or not? What does one need to look out for when requesting a conveyancing quote?

I dont think it matters whether your conveyancer is in the same area where you live or buy/sell your property. It could help, however, if your conveyancing lawyer has some local knowledge as often there are issues regarding, for example, historic land use, flooding, etc.

In my view, it's always a good practice to ring around few places. Cheapest or most expensive don't mean the best. Those located in the south of UK would naturally charge more, but as mentioned above local knowledge is often a bonus. However, if you have a solicitor who you could trust (from previous dealings) then i'd instruct them again whether your property in his/her local area or not. Some solicitors offer discounts to their loyal clients or those who bring lots of business.

I would personally talk to people who used the services of conveyancing lawyers, then ring round for quotes and in the end go with me gut feeling! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) It's almost as good as Lorraines from the last apprentice (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
