I had taken out car insurance with Churchill from 2009 to 2010. When this came for renewal in 2010 I rang Churchill and cancelled the renewal policy as it was more expensive than I could get with Churchill using a comparison website. I then went online and got a new quote with Churchill and took out a new policy with them. I paid for this by my husbands credit card. Without us realising they had taken a duplicate payment from my credit card. We therefore had two insurance policies with the same company for the same car; one for the renewal which was cancelled via the telephone, and one for the policy we had just taken out with them. We have no evidence that the policy was cancelled as it was over the telephone unless the phone call was recorded however the company has stated that the call was not recorded. We do have proof that the policy was taken out twice for the same vehicle. The company has refunded one policy for the vehicle.

My query is do we have the right to claim compensation for the interest that was charged on the credit card or a right to claim due to the situation?

Thanks

Hi, this would be a long drawn out affair with only the solicitors winning out, best thing would be to approuch your credit card company and explain the situatuon to them and ask if they could waver the interest charge on this one transaction as a guesture of good will as it was a genuine mistake, try not to lose your rag with them, they may agree to your request. You are banging your head against the wall with insurance companies.
