This is is the situation one of my colleagues found himself in: he is a happy owner of his first ever house but it took him the best part of 9 months to get there. There were few people in a so called chain which meant that exchange and completion dates kept being delayed. He transferred his deposit money to his conveyancing sols just before the agreed exchange date. But of course because of delays it took another 3-4 weeks before the exchange of contracts actually took place. He was not offered any interest back by his conveyancing reps who were holding his funds all this time. Am i right in thinking that he should be asking them for the interest? After all it was his money they were holding and it was not his fault that there were some delays in the transaction.
