Some folk who find it difficult to shift their houses at the right price, turn to investing into the property itself. But what home improvements are actually worth their money and will push the sale price up?

Hi
I think kitchen and bathroom are probably the most popular areas of improvement which are worth doing, as they normally add value to the property. However, don't overdo it, don't go over the top with expensive materials. Try to follow jouse doctor's rule, clean, modern hotel look.

i think any improvements adding extra space, whether living or storage, to your property such as conservatories, extenstions, loft conversions are the ones worth investing in as they do improve the overall value of the property.

I would have thought anything that would reduce the cost of running the house (an efficient boiler and heating system, doubleglazing, loft insulation, etc) thus making it more energy efficient, would also add to the value.

A lot of people try to change carpets before they sell. In my view, this just creates new, clean impression rather than increasing property value.

If there is a garden, it may help if its tidy and generally looked after. I'm sure ive read somewhere recently that people now tend to spend more time in the garden and as a consequence invest (more labour than cost (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) ) more into it.

Tend to agree with Lisa that any improvements that make your home more energy efficient add to its value (plus you can start enjoying the benefits straight away by paying less for the utilities (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) )
