I have been offered a property via the Borough Council but through a Housing Association. The property is in a poor state both inside and out and I have been told that it is my responsibility to provide everything including cooker, white good, carpets etc. Also outside is a mess and the garden is in a poor state as is the patio area which has been damaged badly by leaking overflow pipes. The car parking area is also in a poor state and garbage is all over the place as well as dumped washing machines and the like. So what are my rights here and should I expect the property and surrounding area to be brought up to a minimum standard BEFORE I move in? I am a single parent and have a 6 year old son.

Have you asked them about it at the time of your viewing?

Housing associations provide a wide range of housing, some managing large estates of housing for families, while the smallest may perhaps manage a single scheme of housing for older people.
