Hi, anyone could help me out here please! I recently used the services of one of the local solicitors firm. The matter dragged for some time and although i understood that they had to charge more than the original quote, the final figure was a lot higher than I've anticipated. I tried to dispute the fee with the firm, but they would not budge. In the end i paid the outstanding balance. Now I just want to know whether i could get a second (preferably independent) opinion on their bill. I appreciate that it's not quite a buytolet query but guess conveyancing solicitors could overcharge their clients too! thank you in anticipation rolleyes.gif

Am sure there is some sort of procedure one can follow for the legal bill to be re-assessed independently. Unless i watch too many legal dramas! I loved 'damages', hope there is another series coming next year! :0

You may try to instruct legal cost assessors firm to review your sols bill. I believe hateleys are just one of them. I also seem to think that you can refer your bill to the legal services commission to be independently assessed but probably only where your sols assisted you under their contract with legal services commission.
