Does anyone think it would be a good idea to have some sort of table or recommendation list (from personal experiences, of course) of, for example, letting agents, mortgage advisors, solicitors, etc who are either particularly efficient or mostly inefficient?

I think it would be quite useful to know who is who to save time and to avoid so called 'cowboys'. Especially when it comes to letting agents as this sector is no regulated and when you have problems with them, there is often no remedies but 'a small claim court' which could be time consuming.

It is really a bright idea to have the list of all those mortgage rates, insurances, brokers that are best in their business.
But it seems to me that this whole forum is all about discussing on these subjects. People here are talking of how it would be better to do this and that on account of buy to let mortgages.

Well, buy to let mortgages is vital topic in UK nowadays. It's good that this forum is specifically oriented on it. But in the same time it would be great to have such list of recommendations, to have it always in front of you, not waiting for the website to load.
The idea of knowing 'who is who' is one of the best. We all should work on this list. What will everyone say?

I'm too, all for such a list. I've heard from my friends about the problems caused by immigration solicitors, which is different to some extent, but it still gives a good example of dealing with the wrong kind of professionals. That's why I'm sure that a "name&shame" list would of be great use to beginners as well as to experienced investors.

Perhaps one of the forum administrators could point us in the right direction to see what could be done to create little directories of 'i would recommend' and 'i would never use'. This is an example, of course (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Cheers!
