I have given notice on my current property and signed a tenancy for my new property to take affect on the 24th of this month (next monday!!!) I have no choice now but to vacate this property as new tenants are moving in the fllowing week. A survey has identified a problem with the roof and an estimate of £3000 to repair it the rent is £625 a month. He now wants me to back out of the tenancy with nowhere to go wher I've said simply fix the roof over the summer and honor the agreement. Where do I stand legally on this issue? Can he prevent me moving in on Monday? We have signed a 12 month agreement and I've paid first months rent and deposit. I have said if he can offer a property of equal size in the same area I would consider that but he has not contacted me sufficiently to discuss it and with two children and the move a week away I am very stressed about what my rights are in this situation.
