Hi,
I hope some can shed light on my situation.
I lost my job and was not paid for 3 months, and when it became clear to me this would affect my rental payments - some 3 months into a 6 month Tenancy Agreement, I contacted the letting agent and asked to break the agreement. They were very reluctant and said the landlord was unlikely, then claimed they couldnt get in touch with him. So I spoke to him myself and he was more than happy.I paid the fee to break the agreement, that was 6 weeks ago.
What Im most confused about is this flat, which was the nicest I saw out of 12 flats only 4 months ago (now), has suddenly become a flat that no-one is interested in?? And I do understand that the market can change and quickly, but still.....
The LA have shown about 15 people around but no takers. I am more than surprised to say the least, as I say it is very nice.
Obviously I desperately need to get out as I am liable for the rent until they find someone else, and have paid for the supposed privilage of them doing so, but as my 6 months end of tenancy is now looming I am beginning to feel conned out of the money I paid them to Readvertise.
I guess what Im asking is are there known scams involved or is there a reason I could be missing that they would not be doing thier best to relet the flat, or even possibly putting prospective tenants off when they are shown round?? Or am i just plain unlucky??
Thanks
Desperate....

I think that even if it is true, you'd find it difficult to prove. What would the agents be gaining by obstructing prospective tenants?
