I inherited a property from my maternal grandmother approximately 4 years ago, which my mother moved into. She was previously living in council property with her partner and receiving disability benefit and housing benefit. My mother moved into the property I inherited and the local council pay me a nominal amount and my mother has to pay a small amount based on her circumstances. Her partner also lives in the property.
My mother and her partner have split up as he is being violent and abusive towards her, but refuses to vacate the property. Can anyone please give me any advice as to how I would go about getting this man to leave the property? I have suggested changing the locks, but my mother says he would smash the windows, which obviously I would like to avoid! He does not pay any rent. He merely gives my mother a small amount each week towards food, etc. Thank you in advance. |

Hi
It is certainly not the situation I would want to be in. I just wonder is he a tenant as well? If you are paid by the council for him and your mother, I think you need to speak to them. |
