Hi all, new to forum, have my first question (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
have let a property since 2004, and had a property management contract with same letting agent for all 6 years. for a number of reasons I have decided to manage property myself and have now just given required 3 months notice to the letting agent to terminate the management contract which they have acknowledged. However, they have said that they will give my tenant notice to leave, basically to hand over a vacant property. The current tenant is really good and wishes to renew, as do I. am I missing something here? is the agent able to say I have to find a new tenant because they "found" the current one and therefore they cannot transfer over to a new tenancy agreement which isn't theirs, or is it as simple as the agent being under mis-aprehension that I want to terminate the tenancy agreement as well? I will be speaking to the agent in due course but wanted to do some investigation first, as previous negotiations have not gone well any help / suggestions much appreciated S |

Think, your agents may be missing smth here (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) The tenancy agreement is between you and your tenants, right? If this is the case, how can your management agents give your tenants a notice to quit? Check your agreement with the agents just to make sure there is no small print there, but in my view, you've already paid your agents in their comission fees for finding you this tenant and, presumably, for setting up current tenancy agreement.
