Car Breakdown Insurance Excludes Misfuelling Damage - Defaqto

Defaqto, UK-based independent financial research company, recently published a research, which showed that 23% of motor breakdown insurance policies in Great Britain do not provide cover in cases when the car is filled with the wrong fuel. Another 14% of car insurers exclude cover for you when you run out of fuel.

Commenting on the findings, Mr. Powell who takes the post of insight analyst at Defaqto, said that the fact that almost a quarter of UK insurance companies do not cover misfuelling-related issues means that car owners might face not only huge repair bills but also additional towing charges.

He highlighted that misfuelling problems are very widespread in the UK as 100,000 car owners put the wrong fuel in their cars every year. According to the AA, fuel-related issues are in the top 10 list of problems dealt with by breakdown companies.

To choose the right breakdown cover, consider comparing deals online and contacting each insurer for details prior to signing up for any policy.
