UK Drunk Drivers Are Still on the Roads

LV= Insurance found out that 3% of drivers convicted of drink driving are still on the UK roads. Many of those who have not been banned are going to offend again.
Research performed by UK insurance company LV= found out that 3% of drivers who drink and drive are still on the UK roads.
As such, last year there were 55,539 drink driving convictions, but 1,480 of drunk drivers were not disqualified.
What is more, 2.6% of those convicted were cautioned for the drink driving offence twice or more within the same year.
Most of drink driving offences, where drivers are not disqualified, took place in London and Suffolk.
Commenting on the findings, Selwyn Fernandes of LV= said: "driving under the influence of alcohol is a serious offence that usually leads to automatic disqualification and urged drivers to take heed of the law." He highlighted that during the Christmas season drivers should “know their legal limit and stick to it.”
