Use Garage Wisely and Save on Car Insurance – Aviva

Brits who use the garage for storing cars, not stuff, pay less in automobile insurance premiums.

UK insurance company, Aviva, recently published a report which suggests that Brits keep "stuff" in the garages, not vehicles.

The total cost of the items stored in garages is almost 3,500 pounds, whereas vehicles worth 13,000 and more are left on the driveway.

This makes the cars easily accessible for criminals looking to steal, break in or vadalise.

As many as 25% of Brits confirmed their garages are stuffed with various household items. Yet, 9 out of 10 car owners said they would want to change their ways.

Commenting on the findings, Heather Smith of Aviva, said: "We understand that householders are busy, but if they gave their garage a bit of a clear out once in a while and parked one or more of their cars in it, they would have the peace of mind that one of their most valuable possessions is being fully protected." She also highlighted that car insurance for vehicles kept in a garage tends to be cheaper.
