UK House Prices Rise 0.2% in December – LSL Property Services

According to the latest report published by LSL Property Services/Acadametrics, house prices in the UK remained almost unchanged in December 2011.

The report published by the company on Friday, January 13th revealed that the month-on-month increase only amounted to 0.2% in December. The average house was priced at 220,385 pounds.

On an annual basis, however, house prices in the UK fell by 0.5%.

The only two regions where an annual increase was seen were London and Wales. The increase in house prices in London was significant indeed as it hit 3.1%.

Commenting on the findings of LSL Property, Richard Sexton of e.surv, said: "Despite the growing fears of a debt crisis in the Eurozone, prices rose 0.7% in the second half of 2011 and, with high inflation and reasonably static prices, this has helped make property more and more affordable. But despite prices showing such astonishing staying power, 2012 is set to be another tough year."
