Less Brits Search for Mortgages Online

In summer 2011, the demand for mortgages decreased as less Brits searched the web for home loans.
A research recently performed by Greenlight, independent social and marketing agency, revealed that the number of searches for mortgage fell by 14%.
As such, in July 2011 818,088 people searched for mortgages on the web, which is down from 951,923 in January.
Overall, the number of bank-related searches, including those for banking accounts, mortgages, credit and debit cards, and loans, fell to 2.5 million in July from 2.7 million in January.
Meanwhile, the number of searches for personal and other loans, rose in summer 2011.
It is interesting to note that the most visible websites in terms of organic search for loan-related queries were MoneySupermarket, TescoBank, and SainsburysBank. The influence of other brands was also analysed across major social network platforms, like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn.
