As the number of repossessions in the UK is constantly increasing and is expected to reach 75,000 this year, estate agents have reported that the recession is hitting the ultra wealthy homeowners and properties that are at the highest end of the market. To prove their claims, estate agents have published a list of top 10 luxurious properties that have been repossessed. The repossessions of mansions generally took place as their owners, formerly known to be wealthy, have lost their jobs or bonuses. The list below includes 10 expensive properties, five of which have recently been repossessed and sold, and the remaining five that are currently for sale. Top 5 Sold Mansions 1. Grasmere Road, Sandbanks located in Dorset. The property was repossessed and resold in 2008 for £800,000. 2. Thornton Bridge Hall located in North Yorkshire. The property was sold in 2009 for £870,000. 3. Loveday Rd, Ealing located in London. The mansion was repossessed and sold in 2007 for £724,000. 4. Kenilworth, Balsall Common located in Coventry was repossessed and resold in 2007 for £523,000. 5. Low Stott Farm located in North Yorkshire was repossessed and resold in 2008 for £875,000. Top 5 Mansions Currently on Sale 1. Melville House, Fife in Scotland is being sold by Knight Frank for a guide price of £2.5 million. 2. Clifton Hall in Nottingham is also being sold by Knight Frank for a guide price of £2.75 million 3. Dishcombe House, near Okehampton in Devon is being sold by Knight Frank for a guide price of £950,000. 4. Ennerdale Road, Richmond in Surrey is being sold by Barnard Marcus for a guide price of £800,000. 5. Ivy Hall, near Ryde at Isle of Wight is being sold by Barnard Marcus, the price is to be revealed upon demand.
