Christmas Home Insurance Launched by the Post Office

Those who are planning to get expensive Christmas presents for their family might be happy to know that the Post Office has changed the terms on its home insurance policy.

Now, all new customers of the Post Office will get an automatic 10% increase in the house contents protection during Christmas.

The same increase is also available for other festive periods, such as wedding, upon request.

Gerry Barret of the Post Office insurance department said: "At Christmas, house insurance is the last thing on your mind, but by automatically raising the level of cover as standard on all our contents policies, the Post Office ensures that customers have one less thing to worry about. Customers can enjoy the festive season with peace of mind that their gifts and home contents are fully protected should anything happen."

Other Post Office home insurance products operate on the standard basis. The "new for old" policy that applies in case of fire or flood remained in place.
