Direct Line Urges Homeowners to Get Ready for Winter

On Tuesday, December 6th, Direct Line insurance issued recommendations for Brits regarding the measures that should be taken to get winter-ready.

As this is going to be another harsh winter, homeowners will be much better off by taking a number of simple and yet effective safety measures.

As many as 40% of UK houses could be vulnerable to burst pipes, broken boilers, severe snow and ice damage.

To prevent such drastic consequences, Direct Line spokesperson, Stuart Curson, suggests that "in addition to checking that your insurance covers the cost of emergencies, taking a few simple actions such as lagging pipes and keeping your home well maintained will go a long way to limiting the damage winter weather might cause."

Currently, specialists at Direct Line expect that 19.7 million of Brits will be unprepared for the winter 2012 and might send their insurance providers claims associated with snow or ice damage.
