House Insurance to Be Checked Prior to Vacation

The latest recommendations from online comparison portal, Moneysupermarket, are for those homeowners who oftentimes leave their properties for prolonged vacations.
The firm revealed that there are many UK insurance policies that do not provide protection in cases when properties have been unoccupied for 1 month or more. Overall, more than 300,000 Brits might have this said in small print in their cover policies.
This means that all homeowners should carefully check their insurance cover before they go on vacation to make sure its terms are suitable for their needs.
Commenting on this issue, Moneysupermarket head of house insurance, Ms. Owens said that certain British insurance providers are very strict about unoccupancy period. She recommends contacting the provider and informing it about a prolonged stay every time its length exceeds the stated one.
Failure to do so might result in invalidation of home cover, which, in its turn, might lead to serious financial problems should the home be damaged or burgled.
