Bute Farms Let to New Tenants
Bute Estate, owned by the Mount Stuart Trust, recently announced that 5 new farm lettings are being arranged on the Isle of Bute, Scotland.
According to Bute Estate and its partner, CKD Galbraith, a rural property firm, the 5 farms that are being let include:
1) Little Kilmory, 378 acres.
2) Lubas, 143 acres.
3) Quochag, 128 acres.
4) Achavoulaig Farm, 567 acres.
5) Kildavannan Farm, 289 acres.
Two of the above-mentioned farms (Little Kilmory and Lubas) are being let to new young farmers on 15-year limited duration tenancies (LDT), one (Quochag) is being let on a basis of 5-year short limited duration tenancy (SLDT), and two are still under offer (Achavoulaig Farm and Kildavannan Farm).
In the opinion of Mr. John Bute, the Mount Stuart Trust’s chairman, the agreement of 2 15-year limited duration tenancies with 2 young farmers, who will definitely benefit from this cooperation, is a very pleasing fact to the Bute Estate. CKD Galbraith’s head of farming department, Mr. Chris Addison-Scott, said that he is also very happy to see young farmers signing tenancy agreements for farms on Bute.
Mr. John Bute went on to say that the company is also glad to have agreed a short limited duration tenancy on Quochag with Mr. Duncan McAllister, Bute’s largest dairy farmer. The tenancy, thus, will eventually turn beneficial not only to the Bute Estate, but also to the First Milk’s Rothesay Creamery as it will provide support to the dairy industry on the island. Previously, the future of the dairy industry on Bute was a major concern for authorities and dairy farmers, who have been looking for more land. The agreement of the tenancy with Mr. McAllister is, thus, good news for both, farmers and the estate.
The decision on lettings of two other farms will soon be made as CKD Galbraith has been working closely with the Estate Factor lately and received a large number of offers.
