UK Investors Interested in Foreign Farmalnd

According to an article in Farmers Weekly Interactive, many UK investors who believe that British land is not a safe investment any more, have turned to markets of Eastern Europe and CIS countries.
Let us remind that land values in UK slightly fell in the past months, whereas the overall economic status of most private investors, equity and trading companies improved.
Commenting on the renewed interest of British private and corporate investors for farmland, Mr. Atkin of Bidwells Agribusiness, said that "in some areas of eastern Europe and the Former Soviet Union, farmland looks undervalued, offering the chance of good capital gains for those prepared to wait. At the same time, these areas can also offer much better returns from farming operations than we are used to in the UK."
He claims that land in that area is not only undervalued, but also underused. This means that UK investors can bring it into arable production and easily export goods to Great Britain thanks to good export facilities.
