Buy to Let Landlords to Debate the Prospects of Eco Towns
Since UK government has announced its proposal to create eco towns, a vast majority of residential landlords who wish to go green has
been watching the plans with great interest.
45 councils have put forward ideas associated with new homes, jobs and even new settlements. The new plans are being considered by the Ministers in the framework of the Growth Points scheme, which implies zero- or low carbon developments that allow using the best of brownfield land.
Ministers hope that the new developments will help meet the zero carbon timetable outlined last December’s as they will drive up new technologies, which will make all homes zero carbon.
The new eco developments are being met by fierce oppositions at local levels in spite all of its positive trends. Concerns over the state of the housing market are being put up as the credentials of the new eco towns have not been examined yet.
In the light of all of the above, a team of experts will gather together in London at Grand Designs Live to debate the credentials of new eco towns in front of a live public audience.
A number of questions will be discussed at the debates, including such as: why has the idea been so unpopular? Is there an alternative? Should new towns be created? Etc. The debates will give an opportunity for buy to let landlords as well as for general public to join the discussion.
The Grand Designs Live will be held in London on 25th April – 4th May, 2009 at the ExCel centre. The debate dedicated to Eco Towns is scheduled on Saturday 25 April, 2.30-3.30pm. It will be held in the Grand Seminar Theatre at London’s ExCel Centre.
