Female Landlord Awards Launched by NLA
The National Landlords Association (NLA), which is considered the leading landlords organization in the UK, continues to search for a female landlord, who can be called Property Woman of the Year 2009.
The survey, conducted among 500 female landlords, showed that women hold a different attitude towards their business than man. For example, female landlords tend to be more sympathetic with tenants, when the financial situation of the latter changes, which is considered a very important during the recession. Moreover, female landlords are believed to spend more time and money on aesthetic touches that make a house feel like a home. Also, survey respondents see female landlords as those, who pay more attention to landlord-tenant communication and who have a more supporting approach. Female landlords are also said to be less likely to delegate tasks.
Melissa Porter, who is the ambassador of the Awards 2009, said that it is no surprise that female landlords tend to be more understanding and attentive. Although this women’s quality is often taken as a stereotype, it is actually true. She added that the Awards is a great opportunity for female landlords to get some recognition among male landlords and to demonstrate that the UK rental property market is not all gloomy.
Lucy Morton, the President of the Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA) said that her 26 experience in the lettings industry shows that this sector has always been dominated by female landlords due to their attention and care for the clients.
The NLA Property Women Awards was launched in April 2009 and is already loaded with nominations coming from across the UK. The top prizes are considered to be:
1.   NLA Green Property Woman Award, which will be granted to a female landlord who has made her lettings business as green as possible, and the
2.   NLA Young Property Woman Award, which will be given to a successful female landlord under 30 years of age.
Twelve prizes in regional categories will give landlords a chance to win thousands of pounds. All female landlords, who wish to participate in the Awards, are welcome to nominate themselves or someone else online.
