Flood Victims Should Contact UK Home Insurance Firms – ABI

Landlords who own properties in Cornwall have been recommended to contact their home protection providers as soon as possible in case they have been affected by the recent flooding.

Let us remind that earlier this month the city of Cornwall has seen water rising to 4 feet because of heavy rains and strong winds. The weather conditions negatively affected many properties, which were damaged.

The Met Office also forecasted severe weather conditions in other parts of Great Britain, and the south-west of England in particular.

Commenting on the situation in Cornwall and possible flooding in other parts of the country, the Association of British Insurers said that those who have suffered from property damages, should ask their home insurance provider to arrange the repair and to cover the cost of alternative accommodation.

Mr. Starling, director general of insurance and health at ABI, is determined that "unwelcome events like this highlight why insurance is so important. Insurers know how traumatic and disruptive flooding can be. Their first priority will be to ensure that every claim is dealt with as quickly as possible, and they will be doing everything possible to help their customers recover."
