Brit Insurance and Pru Announce New Appointments

Mr. Malcolm Beane has recently been named as chief operations officer at Brit Insurance Holdings – a reputable worldwide insurance and reinsurance company. The new appointee will take his post on September 21st; he will also become a member of the company’s Executive Management Committee. Mr. Malcolm Beane will be directly subordinate to chief executive officer of Brit Insurance Holdings Plc, Mr. Dane Douetil. Mr. Beane is expected to bring about his extensive experience of work in the insurance industry; previously, he held a number of posts at XL Capital, XL Insurance and HR Service Delivery including chief processing officer, chief operating officer, and global head respectively. Before he entered the insurance industry, Mr. Beane has been working in the sphere of HR for 20 years. His previous job sites included senior operational and HR posts at JP Morgan. The news of Mr. Beane’s appointment comes along with the news from Prudential. The company has announced the departure of Mr. Nick Prettejohn, who currently takes the post of UK and European chief executive, in September. Mr. Prettejohn has been working for the company for 3,5 years. Prior to his appointment to Prudential, Mr. Prettejohn had been holding the post of Lloyd’s chief executive in London. Initially, he was appointed to the post of the Corporation of Lloyd’s head of strategy in 1995. Prudential announced that Mr. Prettejohn’s post will be overtaken by Rob Devey, who is currently employed by Lloyds Banking Group. It is interesting to note, that the departure of Mr. Prettejohn in September coincides with the stepping down of the company’s group chief executive, Mark Tucker, and the appointment of Mr. Tidjane Thiam, Prudential’s finance director to the post of the latter. The potential appointee, Mr. Rob Devey has been working for the Lloyds Banking Group since 2002. Also, he held a number of senior posts in insurance and banking spheres, including such positions as HBOS financial services’ managing director and HBOS general insurance’s managing director.
