Flood Victims Enjoy the Benefits of Flood Insurance

The inspector for Cornish Mutual Insurance, Gary Burgess was praised by flood victims for his support and assistance in the recovery of properties. Six months ago Ottery St Mary was struck by heavy hailstorm, which damaged houses, cars and other property, but Gary Burgess reacted very quickly to the event. He was present at the scene a couple of hours later and immediately started to help policyholders by inviting flood damage restoration specialists and loss adjusters. Also, he arranged rescue of several individuals, who were cut off in the settlement. One of Ottery St Mary residents, Alan Maynard, said he saw his car and furniture washed away by the river and his carpets and other goods destroyed by the floodwater. He also praised Burgess’ work, adding that the specialist returned any time the help was needed. Insurance companies say that flood insurance has become very important in recent times, as flooding has become more prominent. However, according to ABI those homeowners living in flood plains will find it extremely difficult to obtain protection against flooding. Let us remind that in November 2008 the British Insurance Brokers’ Association (Biba) called for the problem to be resolved through intense cooperation between insurance companies and the government.
