Insurance Reminder to All South West Landlords

Cornish Mutual, a regional insurance company in the South West reminds all South West owners of second/holiday homes that they are breaking the law if they have no property insurance cover of their properties.rnThe Cornish Mutual company representative also claimed that sometimes people, who are running a holiday home business may be unaware of the fact that liability insurance is a legal requirement in the area, and that they may face a severe fine or even a prison sentence if a person working on or in the rented property in injured.rnChris Ridgers, business development manager at Cornish Mutual explains that a cleaner or a gardener, who is working on the let property under the homeowner’s guidance, has to be covered by the employers’ liability insurance.rnAlso, the company representative said that although public liability insurance is not a legal requirement in the area, guests sometimes do raise claims. To support his speech, Chris Ridgers has mentioned two recent cases experienced by Cornish Mutual, in which one guest tripped over a step and hurt himself by a wood burner, while the other guest broke several bones as a result of a fall over a concrete mushroom, placed in the garden of the rented property.rnCornish Mutual is a company with more than a century experience in the insurance industry; recently, three new board members were appointed by the company’s management after Annual General Meeting resulted in a strong showing.
