UK Insurers Skeptical of Gender Ruling

UK Insurers Skeptical of Gender Ruling

Earlier, we have already reported that the European Court is deciding whether or not to ban the use of gender in pricing protection policies. The latest news is, that the Court ruled in favour of the ban, and, as a result, faced a barrage of criticism from UK insurance industry.

As such, Mr. Brodie of Master Adviser said that use of gender in pricing insurance is basic maths rather than discrimination.

Mr. Carr of Kevin Carr Consulting is determined that the ruling will only bring about problems for British women as insurance premiums for them will rise by 10-20%.

The ruling will take effect in December 2012, but industry experts believe that further clarification is needed before that time because the main routes available to British insurance providers are guaranteed not to benefit consumers.

Those who want to take advantage of the gender-based life insurance premiums, should consider shopping now. To find the best rates, turn to online comparison portals.
