Many Brits Are Not Interested in Pension and Retirement

A recent research carried out by Barclays Bank, the 4th largest lender in Great Britain, showed than more than half of rich UK individuals are not planning to retire. Instead, they say they want to keep working even in their later years.

This means that the plans of the British government to increase the 65-year-old retirement age are rather rational because the concept of pensions is not supported by many Brits. The 60% figure in Great Britain, compares to 34% in Switzerland, 44% in Spain, 46% in Japan and 54% in the United States of America.

In fact, many British citizens believe that state pension is not something they should live on during their old age. Instead, those on higher salaries prefer to invest in other assets. There is, however, a problem associated with the effect this approach has on taxpayers with lower salaries. It is being strongly debated by financial experts in the UK.

The survey by Barclays Bank was carried among 2,000 of its wealthy customers around the globe.
