Former Solicitor to Become a Judge at the Supreme Court

One of the first 2 judges to be appointed to the Supreme Court is a former solicitor. Lord Justice Collins is the first judge who comes from the solicitors’ branch to reach the position in UK’s highest court. Collins appointment, along with the appointment of Sir Brian Kerr, the Lord Chief Justice of Northern Ireland, was announced yesterday by Downing Street. The two will become justices when the court opens on October, 1st. Also, When Lord Phillips of Worth Matravers, the senior law lord, will take the post of Court’s president.
