National Tenant Network Launched in UK

National Tenant Network Launched in UK

Husband and wife Gary and Ruth Henderson, who have been renting out properties for over 15 years, have created a national tenant database.

This couple, known as Garden City couple, has heard hundreds of horror stories about tenants and has actually lived through several unpleasant situations. The latest data revealed by LSL Property Services, according to which rent arrears in UK reached £276 million, made the couple launch TenantID network.

This is a database for national letting agents and local authorities, which can upload photos and information about tenants. Once the information is uploaded, it becomes available to everybody else registered in the network.

According to Gary Henderson, the database complies with the data protection act and is not in breach with human right legislation. It is not a blacklist as it includes information about all tenants, not only the unreliable ones.

Commenting on its brainchild, Mr. Henderson said that “this is a simple tick system which collects factual information” ... It is designed to find “ideal tenants, people who are trouble free and who pay their rent.”
