UK Housing Sector Welcomes New Ministers
The UK property industry has seen a re-shuffle, which resulted in new Ministers of the housing sector. Hopes are high that the newly appointed people will focus on the challenges that the UK housing sector currently faces. At the moment, the department for Communities and Local Government (CLG) is comprised of the following Ministers: 1)   Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government - John Denham MP 2)   Minister for Housing - John Healy MP 3)   Minister of State - Rosie Winterton MP 4)   Parliamentary Under Secretary of State - Shahid Malik MP 5)   Parliamentary Under Secretary of State - Sarah McCarthy-Fry MP 6)   Parliamentary Under Secretary of State - Ian Austin MP Although the Town and Country Planning Association (TCPA) has warmly welcomed the new Ministers, it has already called upon them to focus on social justice and housing issues that UK residents face these days. TCPA chief executive, Gideon Amos, highlighted that the massive housing challenges await attention and that the new Ministers, who bring the new set of experience, are expected to address them as soon as possible. The National Landlords Association (NLA), and Mr. David Salusbury in particular, has welcomed Ian Austin, who previously took the post of parliamentary private secretary to the prime minister. Mr. Salusbury pointed out that although the organization has been cooperating with Mr. Iain Wright, who has shown himself as a balanced reformer – a quality that is highly demanded at the moment – the appointment of Mr. Ian Austin is warmly welcomed by the National Landlords Association. He added that as a result of the recently published Government’s recommendations, the whole property sector looks forward to working with Mr. Austin and to see landlords’ voices heard throughout the consultation process.
